search:
Robert Henri was born Robert Henry Cozad at Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1865.
Robert Henri studied art at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts before departing for Paris in 1888, where he enrolled at the Academie Julien.
Paris during the 1890s and early 1900s was the epicentre of the arts world.
Henri's work progressed quickly in France, and in 1891 he was admitted to the more prestigious Ecole des Beaux Arts.
Henri alternated between Paris and the U.S. during the 1890s, teaching at the Women's School of Design in Philadelphia and in his own school in Paris.
After 1900, Henri worked for the most part in New York and steadily built an equal reputation for himself as artist and as teacher.
